Abaco Calendar of Events
There are lots of goings on in Abaco throughout the year the majority of which happen during tourist season. There are "for charity" art and fashion shows at many of the resorts, fishing tournaments for Gamefish, Bonefish and even the nuisance Lionfish has its own derby. The Audubon shows up for bird counts and what most folks think of as a US Tradition -A Soapbox Derby at the "Big Hill" near Hope Town.
Then there is the island wide Regatta in summer which kicks off with the Stranded Naked Party on Manjack's Fiddle Cay. For frolicking fun there is Junkanoo at New Year and Goombay Festivals during summer months plus many of the big Island settlements have "Homecoming" with one of the best being at Sandy Point. And on the Cays, Hope Town, Man-O-War and Green Turtle Cay have their Heritage Festivals - the latter being the original and largest.
Finally every March brings in one time Abaco resident Barefoot Man from Grand Cayman for his concert at Nippers on Guana.
All of the above are written about on one of our pages (see Flotsam & Jetsam) which can be found using our search feature and as far as the dates and location, we suggest you check the BahamasWeekly.com calendar of events.
