Sandy,
Thanks for all the effort that goes into your website. A labor of love, we're sure, but also a lot of work. It's a great resource, we've used it countless times for trip planning, and just to wander through to remind us of the special place that Abaco is.
Keep up the good work!

The Abaco's look like Fire Island on Steroids. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET THERE. Your pictures are great. I was knocked over when your boat popped up with Setauket on it. I showed my wife and she said "SEE, IF HE CAN DO IT SO CAN I".  I'll pass your site info along to friends so they can enjoy it too. Thanks for the site

Sandy....hi, my name is Tommy Jones and I am the Fire Chief in Griffin, GA.
We are located 40 miles south of Atlanta. I just wanted to write you and say thanks for such a great web site. I have been dreaming of the Abaco's for about 20 years and your site gets me a little closer. I am hoping that this will be the year that I get to travel to Green Turtle and some of the other islands. With job and family obligations, its been tough to put together a trip like that. ............................
Your details about the islands are so vivid that I feel like I am there right now. I appreciate how you have relayed to me the non-traditional stories and photos about the island life and culture. Your info has answered alot of questions that I had about Abaco and I cannot wait to discover them for myself. If you have additional photos or stories, I would love to have a look at them. I'm hoping we can make our trip there sometime late summer..................

The best advice I can give a first-timer is to go to www.motuiti.com/Abaco.html and read through as much of Sandy Estabrook's writings as you have time for- read about Guana (and look at pictures) then the other islands. He is a very nice man who will answer you if you write him with questions.-

How did it go? Amazing! Beautiful! Unbelievable! Too much fun! I am almost afraid to go back b/c I am scared the next trip will not be as magical as this one. But, guess what? I'll take that risk. The trip was awesome. I did post a short trip report on the Abaco message board but wasn't sure what or how much to post. I would have never had the confidence to book this trip without your help, Sandy. Funny, how in this strange, screwed up world, you could put your faith in a stranger you meet on the internet to help you plan a family vacation. We had a blast!!

Then I had to convince my husband to go. We flew over to Elbow Cay for a week. Needless to say we did not want to come home.We rented a 20'boat and a golf cart. We snorkled every day, mainly at the parks. We island hopped and shopped.

Your website is very thorough and really tells one everything one needs to know before traveling to Abaco. We had a GREAT adventure and plan to return as soon as we save up some $. Hi there!
I enjoyed reading your great introduction to Abaco and its little paradisio cays, although I must say--from the screen it's a challenge. I've strained my eyes trying to take it all in--especially those pages that are so light that they are almost illegible. But it was worth it!..........

I started this letter with the intention of inquiring about ferries and sightseeing these days with persons in wheelchairs. We have assumed that it was impossible in the Family Islands, but with your Ph.D in Abaco and environs there's no telling what new information you might have for elderly and handicapped travelers in those parts
.
In any case, it was a pleasure reading your generous descriptions of the sea islands my wife, Lee, calls her "favorite place in the world." And we have traveled for many years in five continents on lecture tours, international meetings, and leading small groups of students and clergy.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures. Thanks for the things we never really knew about our "favorite place in the world." Thanks, most of all, for the memories, and for the sweet sadness of being reminded, once again, that our Bahama Days are about over at 86 years and several ills the aging flesh is heir to!

We only hope that our children and grands will some day enjoy the vacations in Abaco that we had in our younger years. We've certainly prepared them for it and your marvelous, high tech video increases the possibility! --------Gayraud Wilmore

Your site is the greatest and I most appreciate the time you put into maintaining and updating the info. I have referred it to numerous folks, including two couples that will be down with us in January. I have been to Abaco 6 times in the past three years and intend to increase that frequency, as I am trying to build on Lubber's. I bought the lot two years ago and just love all that Abaco represents. I am jealous of you and others that have been going for a good while.
Congrats on your recent nuptials; I'm close to your age and looking toward the possibility of the same with my long term girl sometime sooner than later. Keep up the great work!

You have the very best website of any I have encountered about the Bahamas. .... We're going.......  Can you recommend the best type of boat for us?  I'd appreciate any tips.  Thanks much, I still have more reading to do on your site.  It's awesome, really.

You have done a wonderful on your website.  My wife and I have made a trip to the Carribbean/Mexico each spring for the past 11 years.  We fell in love with the out islands acouple years ago on a trip to Great Exuma
and have been longing to return.  We were contemplating a stay at Hope Town Lodge annd I believe you've convinced us it's the place to go. although the Abaco Inn is appealing also.  Can you tell us why you now prefer the former?  What is the best way to make reservations?
Thanks for all the info, and Happy New Year from snow covered Wisconsin.

Go To www.abacoindex.com -first of all click on the print in blue that says "Sandy Estabrook's Guide to the Abacos" and read all of it and see the photos then return to the original page for more surfing.

Sandy! Thanks for thinking enough of Abacos and of all of the rest of us freezing folks in the hinterland, and publishing your site including your impressions and activities in the islands.

I happened on your site accidently after trying to solve a crossword puzzle word....Eastern summer"....which the first  letters were "Abac - - "  (I'm not sure the word is Abacos" or not...but your site on the web was delightful!

Sandy, your site is wonderful. As a writer for boating mags, I can appreciate the effort as well as the talent. We will be visiting (by sailboat) the Abacos soon...and you've given us an extra 'nudge'.

Your site has become my only respite in life! We were in the Abacos 2 years ago and plan to go back soon. In the meantime your site is my "soul". I go to the Bahamianting radio station and leave it on al day! We live in Tucson and Mexico on the Sea of Cortez but my heart is in the Abacos! Keep adding those little "tings" to make me coming back!

Copied to Sandy: -> I had discovered Sandy’s remarkable website while I was originally researching the trip.  It’s an amazing contribution to the ability of practically anyone to plan a trip to the area, consequently a genuine asset to tourism.  I was astounded by the magnitude of the effort that must have gone into it, and the obvious affection he has for the area and the people.  Thanks very much for sending Sandy’s link.......Best,

Sandy:  Of all the websites I've peeked at, I think you should be called the King of Abaco Fun and Faire.  It seems you might also be THE person to ask about this...

..... We just found your site yesterday, and haven't gotten off it since.  It's nice to see a site that's not trying to sell you something, or sway you in a certain direction.  I may be taking a job there, and my wife wants to try and write a book with here time off there. Please feel free to email or call us if you would.  We are definately looking for anyone that can answer questions for us or just give us some
advice.  Thanks for all your great info.
